Who's ready to start handicapping the '17 football race?

Can anyone slow down that juggernaut at SCC? I figure NEW RICH is the only one. Osceola, though coached by a cast of unbelievable coaches, cannot just keep it going, can they? Who knows, that program is on a roll.

I think we have a couple new ones moving up...Prescott is ready to go up the standings and into playoffs; and I think BW will be top 2 in MBC.

Anyone know if Ellsworth is keeping co-Coaches again? That seems so strange...who's really in charge when it's 'decision time'?

Also, I think Somerset makes a comeback...

SCC got hot at the right time last year and went on an incredible run. It is tough to keep that kind of momentum going forward, especially after losing an incredible Athletic Director that really turned around all the athletics at SCC. He will be dearly missed.

New Richmond has been very solid the last few years. Losing Sam Altena will take its toll on the program but with them being the far and away biggest school in the league, they should be able to overcome it. Osceola is in a similar situation losing a talented group of seniors.

It will be interesting to see how Amery handles last season's playoff birth and if they can sustain success.

Can Somerset rebound after two disappointing seasons? The coaching staff is top notch and graduating the class of 2017 should help them begin to get back in the right direction.

B-W made strides last year and showed a great deal of improvement. I would expect them to be in the playoff hunt.

Ellsworth and Prescott have struggled the past few seasons and I don't see that changing much this season.

Predicted finish
T1. New Richmond
T1. Baldwin-Woodville
T4.. SCC
T4. Somerset
T4. Osceola
T4. Amery
7. Ellsworth
8. Prescott

Edit: Could have 6 teams make the playoffs this year. Every week will be a dogfight. Very unlikely that there will be an undefeated league champion.

Figured getting Dan back would make BW a title-contender.

I agree with you on NR - even after those two, it's still a meat-grinder all the way through I think. Prescott and Ellsworth seem to be struggling, but they'll play hard early in the year and if they can keep some kids healthy, they'll pull some upsets I think.

B-W have had 3 talented classes come through that will be seniors, juniors and sophomores this year. Couple that with what other teams are losing, I think that vaults them near the top.
