OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Casey Danielson of Osceola helped the United States win its third straight Junior Ryder Cup.

The 17-year-old Danielson beat Harang Lee of Spain 3-and-2 in her singles match yesterday, as the U-S defeated Europe 14-and-a-half to nine-and-a-half. Alison Lee of Valencia California secured the deciding point by winning 6-and-5 over Linnea Strom of Sweden.

The Junior Ryder Cup was played the past two days at Olympia Fields near Chicago. Today, the two teams will play a ?Friendship Match? at Medinah Country Club, where the men?s Ryder Cup begins on Friday.

What a choke job. Furyk and Mickelson both lose after being 1 up through 16. Just needed one of them to get a 1/2 point.

Because a whole continent beat the US? Pretty sure the US is by far the leader when it comes to golf haha.

So, you're arguing quantity vs. quality, then?

Lame-tastic.

The best golfers are no longer American. It's even worse in the women's game.

11 of the top 17 ranked golfers in the world are Americans so we actually do produce the best golfers.

Why did you happen to stop at 17 ?
One could also say that there is only player from the USA (Tiger) on the list if you look at the top 6.

Just pointing out that using a list or stat can be flawed in a way also.

I agree with your last statement, yet the world ranking is the most comprehensive measure used to rank professional golfers that I am aware of. There is no doubt Rory is the best player in the world at this point in time, but I would argue there is an extremely fine line between his skills and any of the top 15-20 golfers in the world, of which the majority are Americans. I'm still confident that the best golf is still played in the U.S. even though that gap is narrowing when you look at junior golf.

Oh yeah, because there is such a huge difference between players at the top []

Quality and quantity...US easily the best.
